In the 1980s
In the United States
The sesame trade was virtually nonexistent. However, the decision was made to add sesame seeds to hamburger buns at several retailers. This decision led major companies to seek this raw material in Mexico, as it had previously been sourced from the Middle East, making it more costly.

1989

This is how the famous “¡Ábrete Sésamo!” was born in 1989: an opportunity to build partnerships with new commercial partners, opening a significant path into the international market while creating fair business opportunities for Mexican farmers. We transformed cultivation into an opportunity to grow without risk, responding to the needs of the industry and building a business designed to thrive over time.

Our Beginnings

We began operations with just 15 employees, distributing natural hulled sesame seeds and sesame paste for animal feed. We later expanded our product portfolio by adding toasted sesame oil and Tahini, which gradually became two of our highlights across different sectors of the industry.

Growing Together

We focused on diversifying sesame, responsibly addressing the needs of those who are essential to our value chain. We provide them with improved seed varieties, technical guidance, storage facilities, technology, government incentives, organic certifications, direct negotiation without intermediaries, and various forms of support for the communities where they live, building a strong and lasting relationship.

Innovation Beyond Borders

The adaptation of products primarily developed in Asia and Africa has become one of the greatest achievements of this business unit, which is currently operated by 321 employees who are an essential part of our company.
